Privacy
Your email address if you subscribe, and an anonymous count of page views. That is the whole list.

The short version
- We collect your email address only if you subscribe.
- We count page views without knowing who you are. This site sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser.
- We do not sell, rent or trade anything we collect. There are no advertising pixels on the site.
- Every issue has an unsubscribe link at the bottom.
If you subscribe
Your email address goes to Beehiiv, the company that sends the newsletter. Beehiiv first sends you a confirmation email, and may send one reminder if you do not answer it. No issue is sent to you until you click the link in it, so nobody can sign you up without your knowing.
With your address, the form tells Beehiiv which page you signed up on. From a tool page it also sends that tool's name, and from the grader it sends your score. It never sends your grader answers.
Beehiiv records whether an issue is opened and which links in it are clicked, the way most email newsletters do. We use those counts to see which stories are useful.
To stop the newsletter, click unsubscribe at the bottom of any issue. To have your address deleted rather than just unsubscribed, write to mike@pressuretest.news.
When you read the site
We count page views with PostHog. For each page view it receives the page's address, the page that sent you here, your browser, device, screen size, language and time zone, and your rough location (city, region and country), which it works out from your IP address.
It does not get your name or your email. Because the site stores nothing in your browser, PostHog has no ID to tie your visits together.
When someone subscribes, we also record that a signup happened, which page it came from (with the tool name or grader score, as above), and whether the address was already on the list. PostHog gets the IP address with it, for rough location as with a page view. That record does not include the email address.
When something breaks
If a page fails, Sentry, an error-reporting service, receives a technical report: what failed, the address of the page, and your browser type. The report leaves out what you typed into the form, and on our server we strip cookies and request headers from it before it is sent.
Hosting
Vercel hosts the site, so your email address passes through it on the way to Beehiiv, and it sees the IP address each request comes from. To stop the signup form being abused, Vercel's firewall counts signup attempts from each IP address and blocks too many in a minute. It also counts attempts for each email address, and for that count we give it a scrambled fingerprint of the address rather than the address itself.
The grader
The grader works out your score in your browser. Your answers do not leave your device. If you subscribe from the grader page, the score goes to Beehiiv with your email, as described above.
What we do not do
- No cookies, and nothing saved in your browser's storage.
- No advertising, and no tracking that follows you to other websites. Your browser's Do Not Track setting changes nothing here, because there is no cross-site tracking to turn off.
- No selling or sharing of your information for advertising.
Children
The newsletter is written for contractors and the people who run their businesses. It is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their email addresses.
Changes to this page
If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it. If we start collecting something new, we will say so in the newsletter.
